I originally thought about titling this post “Disappointed With My Lack of Consistency.” But then I realised that’s not the energy I want to carry anymore. Instead, this post is not just about aesthetic blogging but also about how and why I stopped blogging and why I found the courage to come back to blogging.
It always seems impossible until it’s done – Nelson Mandela
For a while, I kept making excuses for why I wasn’t blogging:
“There are too many bloggers now.”
“Maybe blogging just isn’t for me.”
But truthfully, those weren’t reasons they were fears. Deep down, I was afraid of failure, of not being consistent, and of being judged. And in reality, I was also going through a difficult personal season that made writing and creating feel like an impossible task.

Why I Stopped Blogging
Life completely got on top of me. Without going into the full details, I was in a place where blogging was the last thing on my mind. I needed to focus on healing mentally and emotionally, and I did.
Still, I often caught myself ruminating over the past:
“I should’ve blogged while I was living in Singapore.”
“I wish I never stopped in the first place.”
“I’ve started and stopped so many times… why bother again?”
That spiral of negative thinking kept me stuck. I was ashamed of being inconsistent and disappointed in myself for letting life get in the way of something I once loved so much.
But here’s what I’ve learned about blogging and mental health:
Sometimes you need the break. Sometimes stepping back is the most powerful thing you can do for yourself and your creativity.

Starting Again Isn’t Failure – It’s Growth
Eventually, I came to understand that I am human. We all are. I have good days and bad days. On the bad days, I slow down, and now, I give myself grace when I do.
Taking a break from blogging wasn’t a failure. It was part of my growth.
It gave me the clarity to reimagine what I wanted MyBreakingViews to be. It gave me space to process life, heal emotionally, and reconnect with my purpose as a creator, a storyteller, and someone who helps others travel and live boldly.
What now..
Since I’ve been gone, I have grown mentally and spiritually. I relaunched this website, I’ve started a platform called Black Travel Creators and I even managed to organise a travel event (with the help of Wandurlustcalls of course!). I’ve done so much behind the scenes and I now feel like I needed a place to share who I really am.
What You Can Expect From Me Moving Forward
MyBreakingViews is back. And yes, I may still have moments of doubt. But I’m learning to take breaks and blog when I’m ready. I’m learning to show up, even if imperfectly.
To anyone out there struggling with fear, creative burnout, or inconsistency just know this:
You can start again.
You can take breaks and still come back stronger.
And you are not alone.
Final Views on Why I Stopped Blogging
I’m excited about this new chapter of myself and for MyBreakingViews (MBV). This time, I’m choosing faith over fear and stepping fully back into my passion.
As Philippians 4:6 reminds us: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
If you’ve been waiting for a sign to start again, let this be it. Because I don’t believe God would have made you start something if he doesn’t think you were able to complete the task.
Thank you for being here and for walking this journey with me and please don’t forget to subscribe to the blog as I get back to sharing my travels with you.
