A Short Weekend in Barcelona
In November this month, I decided to treat my friend to a short weekend Barcelona trip for her birthday, because I am actually a good friend. It was just a quick weekend break in Barcelona trip but between you and me, it was actually an alright vibe. We managed to squeeze in some sightseeing during the day and then chilled in the evening.

Key Things to Know Before Your Weekend trip to Barcelona
- Internet: You’ll definitely want internet while exploring the city. I usually use Airalo for an eSIM, which allow you to get mobile data as soon as you land.

- Payments: Most places in Barcelona accept card payments, so you rarely need to carry much cash.

About Barcelona
Barcelona is a city in Spain and only a short flight from London. Only about two hours. Because it’s Spain, you don’t need a visa if you’re coming from the UK, just your passport, and the euro is the currency. I’d always heard people say Barcelona is beautiful and it really is. Booking the Flights a Weekend in Barcelona
We stayed got a mid-morning flight from Gatwick Airport and arrived just after 13:35pm. at the Sunotel Aston Hotel 3-minute walk from Hospital Clinic Metro Station. It was 2 nights and included bed and breakfast, which made life so easy. This trip for two people was just under £400 which included everything. Day 1- First Impressions of my Weekend in Barcelona Trip
We landed, checked in and just went for a walk around the city. Straight away I loved how lively it was so many people out, restaurants buzzing, and the weather was still decent for November. We had dinner and I ordered a bloody burger.
Day 2 – Gaudí & The Birthday Night Out
We went to see La Sagrada Familia and honestly it blew me away. The detail is crazy. We also saw Casa Milà and a bit more of Gaudí’s work around the city. Barcelona feels like an open-air museum, everything looks different.
That night we went out for the birthday. Dinner, drinks and then out dancing the nightlife in Barcelona is exactly what you’d expect, busy and fun.
Day 3 – Heading Home
It was such a short trip, and before we knew it our weekend in Barcelona came to and end and we were on our way back to London. I didn’t get to see everything I would’ve wanted to, but for a weekend it was perfect.

Conclusion on My Weekend Trip to Barcelona
Wether short or a long weekend trip to Barcelona. Both are a great time and I would highly recommend a trip. It was a good mix of culture and fun for me. Even though it was just for a birthday weekend, I knew straight away I’d want to come back again with more time and maybe in the summer.
