Hotels in Malta Sliema
The hotels in Malta Sliema, are one of the most practical and welcoming areas to base yourself in Malta. It’s right by the water, super walkable, and very well connected to the rest of the island.
For me, being right on the water gives it a real calm, open feel, and Valletta, Malta’s stunning capital is only a 10-minute ferry ride away and it is super affordable too.
Sliema is also great because it’s not super touristy and has a lot of restaurants that you can choose from with a lot of stores like Zara, M&S and even Matalan.
1926 Le Soleil Hotel & Spa Review
The 1926 Le Soleil Hotel and Spa Hotel is a modern four star hotel sitting right on the Sliema promenade. For me the location of the hotel is one of the best things about it.
It’s right by the seafront promenade, which in my opinion is perfect for morning walks, evening strolls, and just sitting and watching the sea. All the main landmarks like Rabat, Valletta, St.Julians are less than 20 mins away feel really accessible, which is exactly what you want when you’re exploring alone. The Room
My room was modern, clean, and genuinely comfortable. The layout was practical, the bed was comfortable, and the overall design felt calm rather than cluttered. After a long day of walking and exploring in Malta, it felt like nice to come back to somewhere that was calmer and go to sleep.
Amenities of the hotel
This is where 1926 Le Soleil really stands out:
- Rooftop pool – including a roof top restaurant that you can see a lot of Malta from.
- Full spa – including sauna, steam room, swimming pool treatments, all of which is ideal if you want to build proper rest time into your trip. I think spa hotels in Malta are a must. I spent the rest of the day here before I went home.
- An equipped gym – including all the basic amenities a gym needs.
- Two on-site restaurants, one of which holds a Michelin star and serves amazing traditional food.
Food and Dining in Malta Sliema
Food options around the hotel are also really good. I would even say that the hotels in Malta Silema are the beest because there are quite a few local restaurants to eat from in Malta Sliema, there are:

Is Sliema a good area to stay in Malta?
Absolutely. It’s one of the best. It’s flat and walkable, has great food and shopping, and the ferry to Valletta runs all day. It’s particularly well-suited to solo travellers.
How far is Sliema from Valletta?
It’s about 10 minutes by ferry, or 20-30 minutes by bus. It’s a very easy journey either way.
Is 1926 Le Soleil good for solo travellers?
Absolutely. The hotel has a relaxed, welcoming feel, and the Sliema promenade location means you’re never far from things to do. I’d stay here again.
When is the best time to visit Malta?
Spring (April-June) and autumn (September–October) offer warm weather without peak-season crowds or prices. Low season (November – Feburary) stays at 1926 Le Soleil offer particularly good value.

If you are looking for where to stay in Malta they I would say that my stay at 1926 Le Soleil Hotel & Spa genuinely enhanced my trip to Malta. I love spa hotels and the spa hotels in Malta where a treat. The location of the hotels was great and made my solo trip.
