Have you ever considered a ski weekend trip but had no idea where to start? I certainly hadn’t until I found myself on a plane to doing a ski weekend in Bulgaria Bansko, one of Europe’s most underrated ski resorts, and I can honestly say that it is one of the best decisions I ever made!
I had always wanted to go skiing but never imagined it would actually happen, when Jess from Road2culturedom invited me to join WindCollective and MountNoireLdn for a ski weekend in Bulgaria, and I simply could not say no! And I’m glad I didn’t with what was lurking round afterwards.
Skiing in Bulgaria Bansko is genuinely one of the most affordable ski weekend trips you can do from the UK. With stunning Pirin Mountain views, fantastic slopes for all levels and a buzzing après-ski scene, Bansko ticks every box. And at £699 all inclusive? Absolute bargain.

I always wanted to go skiing but never did I think it would be me going this year in Bulgaria.
Despite the world outbreaks, I knew that I wanted to make 2020 my year of travels! So when Jess of Road2culturedom asked me to join WindCollective and MountNoireLdn to go skiing in Bulgaria Bansko I struggled to say no. I mean who says no to such adventures?
Honestly, never in a million years did I ever think I would go skiing in Bulgaria Bansko! I mean little old me that grew up in Swindon! hahah.
If you have been following me on my socials, you would have already seen a few snaps of my ski trip in Bansko. I have a few posts lined up for ya’ll, but today I wanted to focus on how my ski weekend getaway in Bansko really went down!
Why Skiing and not Snowboarding ?
To be honest with you I head snowboarding was so much harder than skiing, and I wanted to look cute while learning a new activity. So yes I choose skiing.
How much did it cost?
I managed to get a fantastic deal for my ski weekend in Bulgariawith WindCollective for £699 – bargain or what! This is what the trip included:
- 4 days & 3 Nights shared occupancy ski resorts in Bulgaria Bansko and chalet accommodation*
- Swimming pool, sauna, steam room and hot-tub
- Breakfast every morning
- 1 Dinner
- Return airport transfers from Sofia Airport to Bansko Town
- Flight arriving in the morning (before noon) recommended for the 28th Feb. Flight departing after 5 pm recommended for the 2nd March.
- 2 day ski pass – access to all slopes
- 2 ski lesson – 2 Hour Morning/Afternoon Lesson
- Ski equipment rental – Ski boots, ski polls & skis/board

Day 1 – Arrival and Picking Up Ski Equipment
I landed early at Sofia airport and was soo ready for my skiing in Bulgaria Bansko trip to begin. We was picked up at 1.30 pm. This was my first organised group trip, so I was a little nervous about meeting new people. However, everyone was so nice and welcoming, I was instantly put at ease and felt like I was with family.
I was already tired from waking up at 3 am to catch a 6.25 flight so was ready to have a nap on the coach to the ski resort. The drive from Sofia to Bansko was around 3.5 hours. We had a little break on the way there, where I was able to try some Bulgarian MacDonalds.
Where to Stay
We arrived at our hotel – Belvedere Holiday Club and was assigned our rooms, dropped our bags and headed over to collect our ski equipment! Below are some other hotels that you can also choose from that suit your needs. You will also find ski resorts in Bulgaria Bansko:
Tips: I was asked about my shoe size and how much I weighed for my skis. So I would suggest before you go skiing you know precisely how much you weigh and your shoe size.
The night ended with some good chat and dinner! With an early night for me!
Day 2 – First Ski Lesson in Bansko
Today I woke up at 7 am – an early start! It had snowed the night before, so we were instructed to wake up early for a photo-shoot with WindCollective! Here are a few photos from the shoot below!
After the shoot, it was time for breakfast and then a quick stop to collect our ski equipment for our first ski lesson!
The ski lesson was so much fun! At the end of the class, I can say that I just about learnt how to stop with a technique known as the pizza! However, I won’t lie and say I didn’t fall or crash into a few people to many times. Sorry!
We ended up having dinner in a lovely Bulgarian restaurant where I had a lush cooked dinner. The night didn’t end we headed out to the clubs! The club we ended up in was called Oxygen a disco-bar.

Day 3- Not enough sleep
I woke up 2 hours later to get ready for my second ski lesson! I was shattered! My whole body was shaking; I struggled to get up a little hill of snow! The ski class went pretty well despite no sleep! I learnt to stop better and only dropped once! I also learnt how to do a slight bend! Woop!
After our ski lesson, we had another photoshoot! OMG! This was like heaven – see below for some of the shots!
The night ended with a farewell dinner by WindCollective and MountNoire at a restaurant called Fondue Swiss Restaurant. It was so cute we had all type of fondue, cheese and chocolate for desert! I loved it! If you know me, you know I do enjoy me some fondue. The night ended with cute speeches and lots of laughter!
Day 4 – Farewell to my first ski trip in Bansko, Bulgaria
Another early start with some breakfast and a quick photo shoot in my swimsuit! I booked an earlier flights than everyone else so left before lunchtime to get to Sofia airport.
