Introduction

If you’re looking for a classic London afternoon tea experience that feels elegant and unapologetically grown, then afternoon tea at The Landmark London might be exactly what you’re after. I recently went with my friend (Jennasworldview) as we had a few things to celebrate, and I absolutely loved it.

I love afternoon tea and have had quite a few afternoon tea experience, London. This has been at Tiffany Blue Box Café, where another close friend and I went to celebrate our birthdays. And then again, with London City Cruises, a gifted afternoon tea experience. Now the only one I need to do is the afternoon tea on bus in London.

First Impressions – The Landmark London

Walking into The Landmark London feels like stepping into a different part of London. I was thoroughly impressed with the restaurant. From the moment I walked in, there was a bouquet of flowers arranged on the table. I felt like everything instantly slowed down, the noise from the busy roads of central London, and I knew instantly that I was going to love my afternoon tea experience.

The afternoon tea experience is held in the Winter Garden and is absolutely stunning, not to mention breathtaking. There are palm trees, a glass atrium ceiling and white cloth tables. One thing that really stood out to me was the diversity of the staff that catered to us. I loved it. It’s always good to see representation of London.

Afternoon Tea Experience at The Landmark London

Afternoon tea at The Landmark is exactly what you imagine when you think of traditional British luxury. I mentioned earlier that I do love having an afternoon tea experience. Why? Well, because afternoon tea is a quintessential part of British history. It’s so chic and so cutesy all wrapped up in one. And I love that I can enjoy an afternoon tea experience with my girls when and where I can.

The afternoon tea experience was a way to just catch up and update my friend on everything that happened since I last saw them. It was a calm, relaxed environment, and I loved it.

I will talk about this in a little more detail in the next section, but we had unlimited sandwiches, and the salmon and cream cheese, oh and the coronation chicken were my favourites. The coronation chicken bread had pinenuts and I loved it, gave it a little kick. There was a selection of desserts, which I will say were quite rich for me, even the pistachio one.

There was live piano music playing softly in the background, adding to the atmosphere without overpowering conversation. It felt like the kind of place you’d bring your mum, celebrate a milestone birthday, or treat yourself to a solo afternoon of indulgence.

The Afternoon Tea Experience Menu at The Landmark London

The Landmark London High Palms High Tea is done very well. Here is what you get with my views:

Sandwiches

You get a selection of savoury sandwiches which are fresh and thoughtfully put together. Highlights included:

• Smoked salmon with cream cheese ( my personal fave, I had these at least 3 or 4 times)
• Egg mayonnaise (not my favourite)
• Cucumber (simple but perfectly done)
• Coronation Chicken (another fave for me)

Scones

This is where The Landmark London really shines.

Warm scones arrived fresh, accompanied by clotted cream and jam, with a side of butter. These scones were actually really good, I would even say they were some of the best scones I’ve had in London. Soft on the inside, slightly crumbly on the outside, and not dry in the slightest. I would say the highlight of my afternoon tea. If you’re a scone lover, this alone makes the experience afternoon tea worth it.

Sweets

The dessert selection was elegant rather than flashy

• Delicate pastries
• Light mousses
• Mango or Passion fruit flavours that weren’t overpoweringly sweet.

Everything felt refined and well-balanced. However, I have noted that as I am getting older, I am not enjoying the richest part of desserts.

MBV Views on the Landmark London Service

Service at The Landmark was attentive without hovering, which I really appreciated. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu, and nothing felt forced or rushed. It’s the kind of service that quietly enhances the experience rather than drawing attention to itself.

Our tea was topped up regularly. I got the peppermint tea because, although I love an afternoon tea experience, I ironically don’t like British tea or coffee. But I will drink peppermint tea.

You’re made to feel comfortable, welcome, and genuinely looked after, which, for me, is what luxury hospitality should feel like.

After the afternoon tea exprience me and, my friend and I continued the fun upstairs and had a few mocktails and some nibbles. Oh, and some water because I love to stay hydrated.

Yes. And yes again. Now, would I come here every month? Probably not. The Landmark London is the place you come to for a special occasion, birthday, or solo treat. And we had a lot to celebrate. Afternoon is something I always enjoy, and having an afternoon tea experience at the Landmark London was about having a timeless London experience.
