January – The Perfect Escape from Winter
This month is the start of the year and for someone growing up in the UK I know that this month can come with many mixed feelings. It’s the month people start with goals, some people find January as quite a gloomy month so here are a few of the best countries to go to that I’ve done myself to consider for the start of the year.
- Cape Verde is a warm, safe, and budget-friendly island to visit and easily done solo. You can read the travel foodie guide here.
- Thailand has to be one of the best countries to go to for the amazing weather for it’s beaches, temples, and amazing street food from Pad Thai, Khao Soi (a northern Thai curry noodle soup) to Chicken Satay with peanut sauce. I’ve been twice in 2013 my travel guide will be slightly outdated, but you can read about my time here.
- Colombia I think Cartagena is my most favourite best countries to go to as a solo travel babe. It’s colourful, fun, and sooo solo-friendly. You can totally do this by yourself. You can read the full travel foodie guide here.
- Senegal oh I love Senegal. The beaches, culture and music, are truly outstanding. You can read the full travel guide here.

And theres is even a post for couples and countries for couples which you can find – Weekend Escapes: 4 Dreamy European Cities for Couples.
- Mexico (Oaxaca) I am yet to do Mexico, when I wanted to go Mexico was an amber country (during COVID-19 season sigh). I have heard many good things about Mexico and the food! Many women have said that it is solo-friendly too filled with lots of culture, and colour. Here is a guide for Cancun Mexico.
- Sri Lanka another one of the best countries to go to as a traveller. Although I have not been yet and have been considering for a long time. I know if and when I go I will experience tranquil solo travel and enjoy tea plantations and beaches.
- Dubai I know many women love to travel to Dubai, but personally for it’s a little to overrated.
- Rwanda Oh Kigali the country with a thousand hills. It’s clean, calm, and ideal for Black women. You can combine it with other East African Countries like Uganda or Zanzibar. For a full guide on Rwanda you can read it here.
March – Shoulder Season Gems
I would argue this is a perfect month for travelling, Janaury and Feb are good but many people tend to use the months to recover from the festives of December, so travelling in March always makes sense for me. It’s the month you start to feel like you are into the Year. Here are some of the best countries to go to in March:
- Morocco – Oh my second home. You have to come to Morocco. From the spring markets, blue cities, and Saharan sun. If you time it right you can come just before Ramadan or during. Either way you will be spoiled with hospitality in Morocco. Here is your full travel guide.
- Chile a country that I am considering to doo soon as it has always been on my life. The wine valleys and Patagonia in transition. I have also heard the food is great too.

I tend to avoid travelling this month depending where I am in the world as I note that between July till August/September it is pretty pricey to travel unless you are able to find a quick swift deal. Here are some of the best countries to go to July:
- Spain The tapas, beaches, and cultural festivals are all good reasons to have Spain on your list this. It will be incredibly warm. I have done Marbella, Barcelona and a few other cities and I keep going back for the food mainly.
- Vietnam (North) Another top and best countries to go to on the list has to be Vietnam. I have always wanted to wanted to return. It has amazing weather and lush landscapes. Perfect for solo travellers, couples and group trips.
