Hey, Kings and Queens how was your Christmas break? I had a lovely time spent with my family. As it’s the last day of 2019 – can you actually believe it? No. Neither can I! Anyways as I was saying as it’s the last days of the year I thought I should bring the year to a close by sharing a few tips on how all of us can make 2020 a year of travel!
Last week I shared a quick walkthrough on my trips of 2019. I wanted to use December as a month to reflect on my travels.
Did you enjoy it? Well, you don’t have to answer – but I do hope you did! It was so important for me to share my journey with you all. As I said in my last post you all came through and supported me when I needed you the most and I will never forget that.
It was a time that you all came together for me and supported and prayed for me. I will never know how to thank you all for your support. There are so many people to name and be thankful for. But trust and believe me, you will forever be in my heart.
2020 is a year for travelling! You must have seen my recent posts on the gram where I asked you about your travel plans for 2020. These are the places you told me that you will be visiting next year:
- Río Negro, Argentina
- Istanbul, Turkey
- Lisbon, Portugal
- Cape Town, South Africa
- Tokyo, Japan
- Amman, Jordan
Will any of you be going to any of the countries listed above? I haven’t been to all of them, but I believe I will someday. Today is the last day of the year! I actually can’t believe it! It felt like just yesterday I was flying to my first 2019 country – Denmark, Copenhagen! In celebration of the New Year, we are going to focus on our 2020 goals and learn how to make this a year of travels!
I’ve always said that I want to see more people travel, so let’s share some tips on how you should get into travelling in 2020.
6 ways to Make 2020 Your Year of Travel

1. Make travel a priority
If you want to travel more, then make it a priority.
This year I knew I wanted to travel more, and that’s precisely what I did. Please don’t make travel expensive because it actually doesn’t have to be! If you live in the UK have a look at day trips. In this year alone I travelled to 13/14 countries with some of them being day trips. Have a read:
When I say make travelling a priority. I’m talking about putting flights, hotels and researching destinations at the forefront of your mind. Think about travel before you think about buying something flashy – you don’t need it trust me! When I’m coming back from a trip I am usually already looking for my next destination!
Of course, you can have treats, but reprioritise what is important to you and you will see the difference.
2. Book well in advance
If you want to travel more in 2020, then book that flight!
I’ve already booked two trips for 2020, one of my bestie and another with Jessica of theufuoma which I am extremely excited to share with you all!
When booking flights I would suggest using apps like, Hooper. The app analyses billions of flight prices daily and predicts how prices will change and then tells you whether to buy or wait. You could potentially save up to 40% on your next flight if you use it well!
Also, we can’t forget my favourite app Skyscanner perfect for choosing the cheapest dates to fly out!
3. Write down your travels for next year
Remember when I spoke about owning a bucket list for your trips?
It mind sound corny, but trust me it works! Well, it has for me, and it can definitely work for you – if you want it to.
There is so much power in speaking trips into existence. Yes, believe it and receive it! Start speaking destinations into existence, it won’t be long before you find yourself in that exact destination (and you will smile thinking because I did what MBV’s told me to do)!
4. Don’t be afraid of going solo
Never travelled solo? Ok, know that 2020 is your year! To travel as much as you want to in the New Year, then you need to get comfortable with doing it alone. I don’t get to travel solo as much as I would like to, but there are a few places that I would have regretted not going if I didn’t go solo – like my bestie wedding!

5. Think about making short stays
Depending on where you live, this may work out really well for you. You may already know that I am not a big fan of staying in a country for longer than 5 days! It can increase my level of post-depression if I stay too long. So quick easy trips are always a good idea for me. Try out a small getaway – you will find that you have so much more holidays and time to take more trips.

6. Save your coins
There is rice at home!
Yes, say it with me! “There is rice at home!” I learnt this from my podcasting buddy Lateef. Save your coins and think about your spending habits for 2020! Taking packed lunches to work stay away from buying bad snacks.
