6 Amazing Things To Do In Italy, Milian

Milan is a city in northern Italy, the capital of Lombardy, and the second-most populous city in Italy after Rome. I did a cheeky weekend getaway with one of my best girls to Milian a few years ago.

6 Amazing Things To Do In Italy, Milian

We arrived in Milan on a Friday ready for the weekend using Alitalia airlines. This airline was good because it allowed us to purchases cheaper tickets – being under 27 at the time. Worth having a look at their deals.

The hotel we stayed in was called Glam Milano and was pretty decent for the two nights we stayed in Milian. Below I have noted a few things you can get done in a weekend away in Italy, Milan.

1.Sempione Park

During the day we went to a beautiful park, called Sempione Park. I fell in love!

2.Terrazza Boscolo

My friend suggested heading over for a drink and some food. Terrazza Boscolo is up on a roof terrace. Here you will be able to feel the wind in your hair and capture a view of the famous Milan Cathedral.

We were welcomed with a warm welcome and friendly service. Grab yourself an Aperol spritz and tuck into a few canapes.

My Travel Bucket-list: Six Destinations

If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be? I’m sure we could all now use a break from the bleak weather and the reports on COVID-19. I certainly could. Let’s think about things that we will enjoy after this pandemic is over?

I can tell you where I would love to be right now. Somewhere tropical, exotic, with a sweet cocktail – sex on the beach is my fave! As we are still under quarantine I would like to make it known to the world that I still want to travel, so have decided to write six destinations I would still like to visit once this pandemic is over.

1. Jamaica is a destination

Of course, Jamacia is going to be the first on the list. I had been hyping about this trip for over eight months, drinking protein shakes and hitting the gym daily!

Six Destinations I Want to be In The World

Jamacia would have been my very first trip to the Caribbean Island and although, I won’t be going as I had planned. I do hope I can go someday in the future.

2.Uganda

I have a friend from Uganda (cough, cough) that has been promising to take me to Uganda since 2006!!!

Six Destinations I Want to be In The World

It’s a dream of mine to one day visit Uganda and visit Murchison Falls National Park. I have also planned that while I am there, I will cross over to Kenya and hit the safari one day.

3.Greece

Some of you may be shocked to read this, especially after my ordeal in Greece, Athens.

Six Destinations I Want to be In The World

However, I will never let someone stop me from seeing the world. I would like to one day return to Santorini and visit the white buildings.

4.Budapest

Honestly, I don’t think I’ve heard one bad thing about Budapest. Everyone I have spoken to only says good things.

Budapest world destinations

I know of people that have gone more than once – that’s how amazing it is! I want to visit the spas and see what everyone loves about the beautiful city.

5.Brazil

I have never been to South America, and I would love to one day visit that side of the world. Maybe catch a cheeky pic on the steps of Escadaria Selarón. It’s one of those destinations that is an absolute must.

Six Destinations I Want to be In The World

6.Jordan

It’s been a dream of mine to see more wonders of the world. I still have Jordan planned for later in the year, and if everything starts to calm down, I will be able to go.

Six Destinations I Want to be In The World

There you have it six destinations I still want to see in the world. Hopefully, things do calm down, and we can continue to see the world. What about you? What destination would you like to go to after the pandemic ends?

As I have never been to any of these countries. I have taken photos from google images.

Bulgaria Bansko: My First Ski Weekend Trip

Bansko is great for a ski trip. It is a town in South-Western Bulgaria, located at the foot of the Pirin Mountains. It is known to be a popular ski resort for all levels.

I always wanted to go skiing but never did I think it would be me going this year in Bulgaria.

Despite the world outbreaks, I knew that I wanted to make 2020 my year of travels! So when Jess of Road2culturedom asked me to join WindCollective and MountNoireLdn on a ski trip in Bulgaria, I struggled to say no. I mean who says no to such adventures?

Honestly, never in a million years did I ever think I would go skiing! I mean little old me that grew up in Swindon! hahah.

If you have been following me on my socials, you would have already seen a few snaps of my ski trip in Bansko. I have a few posts lined up for ya’ll, but today I wanted to focus on how my ski weekend getaway in Bansko really went down!

Why Skiing and not Snowboarding ?

To be honest with you I head snowboarding was so much harder than skiing, and I wanted to look cute while learning a new activity. So yes I choose skiing.

How much did it cost?

I managed to get a fantastic deal with WindCollective for £699 – bargain or what! This is what the trip included:

  • 4 days & 3 Nights shared occupancy ski resort and chalet accommodation*
  • Swimming pool, sauna, steam room and hot-tub
  • Breakfast every morning
  • 1 Dinner
  • Return airport transfers from Sofia Airport to Bansko Town
  • Flight arriving in the morning (before noon) recommended for the 28th Feb. Flight departing after 5 pm recommended for the 2nd March.
  • 2 day ski pass – access to all slopes
  • 2 ski lesson – 2 Hour Morning/Afternoon Lesson
  • Ski equipment rental – Ski boots, ski polls & skis/board
  • Games Night
  • A Wind Collective Photoshoot sessions
Please note flights were/are not included – I purchased my flights on my favourite website Sky-scanner

Day 1 – Arrival and Picking Up Ski Equipment

I landed early at Sofia airport for pick up at 1.30 pm. This was my first organised group trip, so I was a little nervous about meeting new people. However, everyone was so nice and welcoming, I was instantly put at ease and felt like I was with family.

I was already tired from waking up at 3 am to catch a 6.25 flight so was ready to have a nap on the coach to the ski resort. The drive from Sofia to Bansko was around 3.5 hours. We had a little break on the way there, where I was able to try some Bulgarian MacDonalds.

We arrived at our hotel – Bevelery Holiday Club and was assigned our rooms, dropped our bags and headed over to collect our ski equipment!

Tips: I was asked about my shoe size and how much I weighed for my skis. So I would suggest before you go skiing you know precisely how much you weigh and your shoe size.

The night ended with some good chat and dinner! With an early night for me!

Day 2 – First Ski Lesson in Bansko

Today I woke up at 7 am – an early start! It had snowed the night before, so we were instructed to wake up early for a photo-shoot with WindCollective! Here are a few photos from the shoot below!

After the shoot, it was time for breakfast and then a quick stop to collect our ski equipment for our first ski lesson!

The ski lesson was so much fun! At the end of the class, I can say that I just about learnt how to stop with a technique known as the pizza! However, I won’t lie and say I didn’t fall or crash into a few people to many times. Sorry!

We ended up having dinner in a lovely Bulgarian restaurant where I had a lush cooked dinner. The night didn’t end we headed out to the clubs! The club we ended up in was called Oxygen a disco-bar.

Follow me on Instagram to catch some of the clips from the clubs! I managed to get home around 4 am with only 2 hours sleep for our next ski lesson !!

Day 3- Not enough sleep

I woke up 2 hours later to get ready for my second ski lesson! I was shattered! My whole body was shaking; I struggled to get up a little hill of snow! The ski class went pretty well despite no sleep! I learnt to stop better and only dropped once! I also learnt how to do a slight bend! Woop!

After our ski lesson, we had another photoshoot! OMG! This was like heaven – see below for some of the shots!

The night ended with a farewell dinner by WindCollective and MountNoire at a restaurant called Fondue Swiss Restaurant. It was so cute we had all type of fondue, cheese and chocolate for desert! I loved it! If you know me, you know I do enjoy me some fondue. The night ended with cute speeches and lots of laughter!

Day 4 – Farewell to my first ski trip in Bansko, Bulgaria

Another early start with some breakfast and a quick photo shoot in my swimsuit!

ski trip in Bansko

I booked an earlier flights than everyone else so left before lunchtime to get to Sofia airport.

And there you have it! My ski weekend in Bulgaria. I hope you enjoyed my quick spin on what went down. I will be touching on what you should know before you go skiing for the first time. So do yourself a favour and subscribe to be up in the mix!

I would like to thank Tog24 for my ski wear. It was absolutely amazing.

Coronavirus – Can I Still Travel?

By Posted on 0

The coronavirus COVID-19 has affected over 100 countries and territories around the world, and many people I speak to daily are asking if they can still travel.

How harmful is coronavirus? According to World Meters, there are currently 105,905 cases, with 3,567 deaths in the world. This sadly seems to be rising by the minute.

What is Coronavirus?

A coronavirus is a type of virus. It was first reported in Wuhan, China, on 31 December 2019.

Coronavirus can cause more severe symptoms in people with weakened immune systems, older people, and those with long-term conditions like diabetes, cancer and chronic lung disease.

What are the symptoms?

According to the BBC, coronavirus is a disease that generally starts as a fever, followed by a dry cough. After a week, it can then lead to shortness of breath, with some patients requiring hospital treatment.

These symptoms do not necessarily mean you have the illness. They are similar to those for much more common viruses, such as colds and flu.

Today I read that there are currently 206 cases in the UK, (where I am based) and despite the UK’s strategic response to the virus, I still feel a little bit anxious about travelling. However, I do think that with the right cautions and procedures, we can travel as long as we follow the right steps. Below I give you some quick tips on how to stay safe during the outbreak.

Before I share my tips, I would suggest reading in more detail via the BBC and the World Health Organization website. I won’t be able to cover everything, so please do bear this in mind.

How can you stay safe and travel during coronavirus outbreak

coronavirus tips on staying safe while travel

You have a basic understanding of what coronavirus is, and the symptoms. Now you want to know how you protect yourself when travelling?

1) Hygiene is Important

You must take your hygiene seriously. Wash your hands for more than 20 seconds. Make sure you are using a tissue to sneeze and cough. If you don’t have a tissue, then I would suggest coughing and sneezing in your sleeve.

If you are travelling, consider wiping down surfaces and carrying hand sanitiser. While travelling, you mustn’t be touching your face until you have washed your hands.

There are videos of how to wash your hands correctly – it might be worth watching.

2) Seek medical advice

If you do feel you have the symptoms mentioned above I would suggest seeking medical advice – for those in the UK, it is 111.

You may also want to seek medical advice if you have recently travelled to the following countries:

  • Cambodia
  • China
  • Hong Kong
  • Iran
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • Laos
  • Macau
  • Malaysia
  • Myanmar (Burma)
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
  • Taiwan
  • Tenerife – only the H10 Costa Adeje Palace Hotel
  • Thailand
  • Vietnam
  • Italy

You may be advised to stay at home. I would take this very seriously; you don’t want to continue spreading the virus if you have caught it.

3) Stay informed

If you are travelling soon, or in the next few months, you must stay up-to-date with exactly what’s going on.

My suggestion would be to download apps such as BBC News, CNN and other news outlets so you can receive regular updates.

Staying informed will help you decide on whether you can still travel.

4) Avoid travelling to Wuhan

The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommended that travel to China should be avoided if it not essential. The Chinese officials have closed travel to and from Wuhan and other cities in Hubei Province.

If you must travel to China, the CDC encourages you first to discuss it with your doctor, avoid other people who are sick and avoid animals and animal markets.

5) Consider travel insurance

You may also want to consider purchasing travel insurance or confirming what your insurance covers.

Please note if you’re visiting countries with several coronavirus cases and Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO) has not officially warned anyone against travelling like they have with certain areas of Italy, you can not expect to be covered through insurance.

6) Stay Calm

It’s hard to say this, with the number of cases rising every day, but please try and stay calm. I know what it feels like to feel anxious when travelling, so I do appreciate your worries.

How I see it prevention is always better than cure and I do hope we can all continue to travel and stay safe in doing so.

3 Day Itinerary: What To Do In New York

In New York, Concrete Jungle where dreams are made of there’s nothing you cant do now that you’re in New York. Empire State of Mind- JAY-Z ft Alicia Keys.

Hahaha! Hella cheesy, I know. But I do feel like you can’t write or talk about New York, and not think of this famous song!

I adore New York City!

The streets of Manhattan give me childhood memories of Gossip Girl. The busyness, and the food. Everything! It’s a jungle with class!

For those bougie ones (like me) that love the fast pace movements of a city! Every single time I arrive in New York, I always wonder what it would be like to actually move there.

I visited New York for 3 days for my birthday in 2018, and was surprised at how much I got done by myself. New York is well known to be an expensive ciy! And to be honest with you I can agree and say that the accommodation is quite expensive!

For me I was very lucky to have a friend that lived in Manhattan at the time, so was able to reap the benefits of free accommodation!! Yeah me!!! If you have friends or family in New York I would suggest staying with them, because I hear even Airbnb’s are not that cheap!

Anyways, despite the expenses! New York can and still is an incredible city to visit. Below are 6 things you must do when you are in New York City!

Top 6 Things to Do in New York City

As my friends had to work – because annual leave/vacation days are terrible in America, I was able to explore the city on my own. I purchased a tour ticket for the day at a reasonable price and off I went solo. Here is what I got up too.

1. Empire State Building

The first place I headed to was the Empire State Building. The building has a roof height of 1,250 feet and stands a total of 1,454 feet tall. I wanted a couple of snaps at the top, and can say I was very impressed with how beautiful the city was from the top!

Visit Brooklyn Bridge

I then headed over to Brooklyn Bridge! This is an Instagrammable location and one not to be missed when in New York City.

Interesting Facts: The Brooklyn Bridge is a hybrid cable-stayed/suspension bridge in New York City. It connects the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Take a Ferry to The Statue of Liberty.

I then hopped on to a ferry. Be mindful of knowing the times of the ferries, I wouldn’t want you waiting around for ages. I was able to head over The Statue of Liberty! The ferry I was on got pretty close—another beautiful site to see.

statue of liberty in New York

While I was on the ferry I was able to learn that New York is divided into five administrative boroughs – Brooklyn, Queen, Manhattan, Staten Island and The Bronx. All these five boroughs were consolidated into a city in 1898.

Head over to Grand Central and reminisce on Gossip Girl

Haha! Grand Central Station will forever take me back to XoXo days when I was able to binge-watch Gossip Girl. While you are in New York, you might as well go and sit on the met steps.

Only real Gossip Girl fans will know what I am talking about.

Tour Central Park

The next day I woke up early to head over to Central Park for a stroll and some ice cream. Central Park is the fifth-largest park in New York City.

Do a photo shoot in Times Square

In the evening I headed over to Times Square! My friend has said it was better in the night, but I would still check out both!

There we have it. Have you ever considered travelling to New York City? Let me know if you’ve been before and what you got up too! And don’t forget to subscribe for more travel journals and tips!
