Introduction
We are literally days away from 2026, and I already have trips booked for the year. And I’ve also been thinking about the travel essentials I used this year. I think we can say that 2026 is not going to be the same as it has been for the last five years. The world continues to change, travel has evolved, and so have we.
More people are travelling the world than they have ever before, and studies have shown that this is not just central to a particular demographic. And I love it! Seeing people travel the world, whether that is solo, with friends or with a loved one, is such a pleasure to see. When I first started my travel journey, people that looked like me weren’t travelling, and now people are now seeking more and more destinations, places that are considered underrated for Black women. Travel is changing. The world is changing, and I am here for it.
These are the 35 travel essentials you will actually use and need in 2026 and beyond because we are going to be needing all the essentials of travelling.

Tech Travel Essentials
1) A Portable Charger
If you are like me and want to capture your food and scenic moments, then you will definitely need a portable charger. There are so many to choose from and pretty handy to have too, because a dead phone is just not it for when you need Google Maps? 2) Noise-Cancelling Headphones
Your peace is priceless. Whether it’s crying babies, loud cabin noise, or chatty seat neighbours, noise-cancelling headphones make travel so much more enjoyable. I’ve invested in AirPods for years, but for long-haul flights, overhead noise-cancelling headphones are a game-changer.
3) AirTag / Luggage Tracker
Airlines will humble you. Having a luggage tracker means you can see exactly where your bag is, even when airlines say they don’t know. It’s peace of mind, especially when transiting or flying with multiple connections.
4) Universal Travel Adapter (with USB-C)
Different countries, different plug types. A universal adapter means you don’t need to buy new ones every trip, and USB-C ports let you charge multiple devices at once. You can buy yours here.
5) Kindle or Tablet

Hotels and Airbnbs often have one plug… in the most inconvenient place. A power strip allows you to charge multiple devices at once and honestly saves friendships when travelling together.
