Last weekend I hosted my very first Travel workshop, where I shared knowledge on how I’ve been able to visit over 60+ countries, without any brand trips and working full-time. This included some of the best travel apps for 2026 to really start making travel 2026 your year of travel with the top 10 most popular travel apps and websites. This didn’t happen overnight and it took more than a decade to get here and thankfully I now have the confidence to come out of my shell to actually share my knowledge and my community want to hear me out!

The workshop went well. I had good feedback and if I can say it myself, I think it was amazing, 6 people attended asked questions and just engaged. 1. Quidco or Rakuten

You know when you’re planning a trip and suddenly you’re spending on flights, hotels, tours, and all the bits in between? What if I told you that you could get money back just by clicking one extra button?

I use websites like Quidco or Rakuten all the time, and it has paid for some of my European trips lol. How? It allows you to earn cash-back on everything from Skyscanner to airport transfers, Iceland, Boots, Sports Direct and more. It’s literally free money for purchases you were already going to make. Just sign up, install the browser extension, and activate cash back before checking out on your travel expenses.

2. Skyscanner

Skyscanner is my social media app and should be the most downloaded travel apps in 2026. If you don’t have this app I would say this has to be the first app you download today, like right now. Why because it is the ultimate tool for comparing flights across airlines and dates.

I use this travel app it to find the cheapest times to travel and hidden routes I’d never think of and if you are stuck on where to go and just need an affordable country to fly out to then you can search ‘Everywhere‘ and Skyscanner will give your a wide range of options with the cheapest. I love the flexibility of the app also. I used Skyscanner to book my flight to Albania recently and my flights cost less than £40 RT!

3. Booking.com

Since purchasing my home (by myself may I add). I have always said that if where I am staying is not as nice as my home then I don’t think I can stay. Sometimes this has been an exception when I’m not booking the accommodation, but if I am booking the stay best believe I am booking a nice hotel, Airbnb, or even villa.

Booking.com is the perfect app to download for hotels, apartments, and flexible cancellations. I love that you can book now and pay later it makes the trip feel more affordable and allows you to space your costs out. There is also a Genius loyalty programme, which also unlocks discounts as you book more.

4. Expedia

Is another website that combines both Skyscanner and Booking.com in one site. I freely use Expedia to book not just hotels but my flights, and sometimes holiday packages all in one place. Sometimes they bundle discounts you just can’t find elsewhere and if you want to look at a multi city (go to more than one country in one trip) route they can also help you with planning that too.

5. Citymapper

Citymapper is great and the best travel apps for public transits planner for in cities like London, NYC, Paris. This is a great app for travelling in the city because it is often more accurate than Google Maps in those cities, which in my opinion is better if you are travelling and what to get to your destination quickly.

6. Google Maps

I swear by GoogleMaps and should be another most downloaded travel apps
so glad I know how to use them. It the best travel apps for navigation, walking directions, public transit info, driving routes, and offline maps. Available worldwide and perfect as a solo traveler app also

7. GetYourGuide

GetYourGuide is brilliant if you are planning a trip and want to include some niche tours, activities, cooking classes and more. I tend to use this more so when I am solo travelling or travelling with friends and family. It’s a good app also if you want to explore without stressing about logistics. And it has lots of reviews that you can also read to make you booking easier.

8. Viator

Viator is another one that is on the best travel apps for booking tours for your travels, cooking class, food tours and activities for your travels. It has a huge network of local tour operators worldwide and is also great for city tours and cultural experiences. There is sometimes cash back credited to your account if you book frequently with them which is brilliant to knock off a few $ dollars or £ pounds on your next trip.

9. Revolut / Wise

I am usually a nature of habit and have been a Monzo stan for the longest time but I recently signed up to Wise and love it. There are incentives to earn money through referral systems and free transfers which always work when traveling. It also includes spending tracking and travel benefits on some plans. 10. XE

The best travel apps for currency exchange is XE. It’s brilliant because you are able to add up to 10 currencies and switch easily been them (and if you have hit the 10 you can easily delete one and add another one). I think it is one of the most downloaded travels apps for currency exchange and it works offline by using the last updated rate. I use this all the time to check the cost of things.
