Introducing Adebola of MyBreakingViews…
Tell us a bit about yourself and your blog.
I am MyBreakingViews and I love stating an opinion, so when it came to creating a blog I knew I would find it easy to talk about political issues that surround us as a society because it changes all the time. I also loooove travelling! I’ve done over 30 places around the world and I have sought to share that with people.
I recently started my YouTube channel also called MyBreakingViews (subscribe). I have a huge passion for helping people and letting everyone state their views. I believe in using MyBreakingViews as a platform for opinions to be shared!
When did you start blogging and what motivated you to start?
I originally started a blog three years ago on my travels as I did a study exchange in Singapore and travelled all over South East Asia. However I felt like this was common so decided to start a blog on political and social justice issues that I felt young people needed to know about.
I have since grown and realised there are so many other avenues that I could explore, like my faith (I’m a born again Christian), my travels and just my life.
How has your blog evolved since starting your blogging journey?
Oh wow. This is a question I had to really think about. I can definitely say I have grown as a person. I started on Blogger – I had no idea about blogging, editing or even like headers, footers, URL. I was lucky that my boyfriend at the time was a graphic designer and he did sort me out but then I stopped because I just felt like I wasn’t putting my all into it.
I now use WordPress and GoDaddy as my host, I actually spent money because I knew I would take it seriously once I payed up. I am so glad I made that decision. The support I have received has been amazing and I am constantly growing and learning new things everyday, trust me.
What has been the most challenging part about running a blog?
I would say the most challenging aspect of running a blog is staying consistent! It is so hard especially when it’s cold and life gets in the way. I just found myself making excuses because I didn’t know what to write.
I learnt the best way to keep on top of my writing was to write on my phone especially when I am constantly on the move. In fact this influenced me to start my YouTube channel because I knew I could share my opinions on another scale and widen my platform with another skill.
What’s your favourite post/s and why?
I love my posts on my very own political views but due to my area of work I have had to take a step back and find other ways to grow MyBreakingViews as a brand. I would say my fave posts now are about my travelling because I am sharing my own experiences.
Where do you see yourself and your blog in five years’ time?
This puts me on the spot! Where do I start? I have connected my blog with my YouTube channel and I hope to actually be able to use the two to talk about political issues and real life social issues that affect our community, I don’t what it to just be my views, I want it to be all of your views too.
In a nutshell, I want MyBreakingViews to become a social political platform, a news channel and a website to talk about travel, lifestyle, politics, makeup and ministry! Amen!
Do you have any bloggers you admire and follow yourself?
Yes I mean where do I start lol! I really love Christian bloggers like Wunms and also Shirley B because she helps me tap into my girly side.
Your blog centres around your personal opinions on politics as well as travel. Do you have any advice for bloggers who want to do something similar?
Yes, be you. Don’t be afraid to talk about your views! When I write about social political issues, I would sometimes think about what other people would think and it was only when someone set me straight and asked me what is MyBreakingViews. It is my view! When you have to say something, do not worry about what people think. It’s what you think, it’s is your own Breaking View!
In terms of travel, I say it in my posts – travel! Travel somewhere new every year and talk about your experiences because everyone’s experience is always different. Other than that stay consistent, enjoy the journey and enjoy the growth.

What are your hopes for the Black British Blogging community?
That we get bigger and greater. We have so much to say as black people and I absolutely live for it and love it! Black people face barriers on a day to day basis and I love when bloggers/YouTubers use their platforms to talk about these things.
