It was my first time going to what’s considered a cold country and I absolutely loved it. If you care to consider below is a list of use things for you to do and more.

About Iceland
Iceland is officially the Republic of Iceland. It is a stunning Nordic island nation nestled between the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans. With a population of just over 330,000 and a land area of 103,000 km², it’s the most sparsely populated country in Europe. The capital city, Reykjavík, is known for its charm, culture, and close proximity to some of Iceland’s most breathtaking natural wonders. The country is also volcanically and geologically active, which adds to its awe-inspiring landscapes.
The best time to travel Iceland is highly dependent on your goals. I would say June to August. I went in August which is ideal for general sightseeing, hiking, and accessible Ring Road driving, while September to March is best for viewing the Northern Lights and exploring ice caves.
Now, before you ask. Yes, I’m talking about the country, not the supermarket!
As some of you may know, I’ve transitioned my blog from political commentary to a more lifestyle and travel focus. Life happens, seasons change, and right now, I’m embracing new dimensions. And what better way to relaunch this direction than by sharing my trip to one of the most magical places I’ve ever visited?

Why Iceland?
Iceland was always on my bucket list, even though it’s not your typical tropical getaway. I’m someone who aims to visit at least one new country each year, and Iceland had been calling my name for a while.
Yes, it was freezing, and yes, the UK was warmer at the time! But none of that took away from the beauty and sheer magic of this country. Iceland reminded me that there are still places in the world untouched by aggressive capitalism. The landscapes were unspoiled, quiet, humbling, a dream.
Unforgettable Moments: Why Iceland Was Magical
- 18 Hours of Daylight
Iceland’s summer days feel like time doesn’t exist. At 12:30 AM, it still looked like late afternoon. It completely threw off my internal clock, but in the best way. More daylight only meant more time to explore. - The Simplicity of Life
Everything felt humble and grounded. Even the Prime Minister lives among the people in town. There was a genuine, communal energy that made me reflect on simplicity and leadership.
What I Ate In Iceland
I really stepped out of my comfort zone here! I tried:
- Fermented shark Honestly? Not really for me. But it’s a must-try just so you can say you’ve tried it right?
- Horse – Surprisingly pleasant.
- Puffin – A delicacy in Iceland, and my favourite of the three! The food pushed me to explore new tastes and stories I’ll carry for life.

Absolutely. Iceland opened my eyes to a different kind of beauty, quiet, clean, raw and real. It’s not a place I’d normally think of first when planning a trip, but I’m so glad I finally went. It gave me new perspectives, new flavours, and new memories that will last a lifetime.
