6 Fun Adrenaline Junkie Activities Every Woman Should Try

by MBV

I believe that every women should at least try one if not two high adrenaline activities in their life time. And lets be honest anything can get someones adrenaline running lets be real, there are just so many adrenaline junkie activities, to do. I recently went to Amsterdam and my friend certainly had her adrenaline running while we was on the A’DAM Lookout Swing and when we walked through the red light district lol!

I am definitely someone that likes to always think out the box for myself and do things that I wouldn’t see or ever expect myself to do. Sounds maybe a little weird to some, but I am someone that believes that people should live outside their comfort zone when and where they can.

I am usually someone that will do something outside my comfort zone like go to Fête de la Musique, or even Coachella and ironically on both occasions I have ran into someone who has known me for years and the first thing they say to me is “what are you doing here?” I get it I’m not one to go to events all the time and people do know me as someone that is always at home unless she’s travelling the world solo.

Over the years I’ve built up an adrenaline activities list that can be done around the world, that I think everyone should try at least once, but more importantly, that I feel women should try too. So here I’m sharing a few adrenaline activities I’ve done around the world, with a few adrenaline activities in London also thrown in for those who don’t really like leaving the UK.

And if you have any more adrenaline junkie activities that I have not included in this post please do add in the comment section below.

6 Fun Adrenaline Junkie Activities Every Woman Should Try

So What is An Adrenaline Junkie Activity?

To put it broadly here with me and you today someone who likes to dabble in adrenaline junkie activities when they can is one that like a or any experience that gets their heart racing, palms sweating, and your body flooded with that rush of adrenaline.

When I have done high adrenaline activities, or spoken to friends and family about adrenaline activities in London that they have done it usually involved things like (fair rides lol – I had a guy next to me screaming on a ride once), heights, a good amount of, or a genuine element of fear.

For me, adrenaline activities are the kind of activity that pushes you past what feels safe or familiar and rewards you with a high like nothing you have experienced before. As I said in the intro, it’s an activity that takes you out of your comfort zone. And the good news is, you don’t need to be an extreme sports pro to find them; platforms like Viator and GetYourGuide make it easy to book (always check reviews though), but these platforms have vetted, safe adrenaline activities almost anywhere in the world, and that almost anyone can do.

These ofc are often with instructors or guides included, so you can add and tick all these adrenaline activities list without the stress of sourcing everything yourself.

Adrenaline Activities List

Below is an adrenaline activities list (if you will) to take that I have done myself while travelling around the world. I have also added the links to all the experiences with wider travel guides that you can use for your adrenaline activities bucket list! Please note you can do the ones I have done below or you can create your own list either do one at least once in your life.

1. Helicopter ride in Cape Town, South Africa

I’ve been to South Africa a few times, but my recent visit was my first time ever on a helicopter, and the views were magnificent. I did quite a few things like cooking classes, a safari but the helicopter ride in Cape Town from above topped it all for me, and I love me a cooking class, but this was and will always be a completely different experience for me. The flight is only 25 to 30 minutes and is soo worth it if you ever find yourself in Cape Town. The Table Mountain, which you’ll fly right past, is one of the New7Wonders of Nature, and the only one of the seven located inside a major city.

It’s a fantastic experience to add as an adrenaline junkie activities to your bucket list because it’s very safe. If you would like to use the same experience I did then you can book a helicopter ride over Cape Town via GetYourGuide here. And read my full A 10 Day Solo Travel Guide in South Africa: From Work to Wanderlust.

2. Zip lining: Sal, Cape Verde

This activity was one of those adrenaline junkie activities that you do maybe once to say you have done it. I did zip lining during my time in Cape Verde, and I only went in the afternoon because I was told it was better to see the sunset views while zip lining. Seeing the sunset was nice, and I imagined it would have been sooo busy and really hot if I went in the afternoon.

All the same, going in the afternoon made it even more special. Worth noting: there’s a weight limit for this one, and it’s only around 5 minutes, which I think is great if you’re unsure whether you can manage a long zip line session. You can book the same zip lining experience I did in Sal via Viator here. Read my full Cape Verde Solo on a Budget: Where to Stay, Eat and Do

3. Machu Picchu & Rainbow Mountain: Peru

I did both of these on the same trip, which was an actual dream come true as well as an adrenaline test. Machu Picchu is one I properly prepared for the most. I knew I would need to be somewhat fit, so I was constantly doing stairmaster before the trip. And there is a big thing about the altitude in Peru generally, and acclimatisation is not easy, but lucky for me I was pretty good. The tour guide was even impressed with me on how easy I was able to just manage the walk up to Rainbow Mountain and Machu Picchu.

For Rainbow Mountain, there are horses available so you don’t have to walk all the way up by yourself, but I would say making it all the way up on your own is a genuine achievement. However, I don’t recall seeing horses for Machu Picchu that one I know you are all on your own. You can do both Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain via Viator here and read my full An Amazing 7-Day Peru Travel Guide: The Wonders of Peru.

4. Paragliding: Ölüdeniz, Fethiye, Turkey

Can you imagine I did this last minute while in Turkey? I can’t remember now what the reason was for doing it last minute, but I do remember it being like are we doing this or not? And we decided we should.

Talk about adrenaline junkie activities last minute loool. I have also done paragliding in Vietnam, years ago when I was travelling South East Asia as a student, but paragliding over the beach in Ölüdeniz was so memorable I had to include it in my Turkey trip, and I am soo glad I did. If you would like to book paragliding in Ölüdeniz, (because I booked once I got there with a local vendor) read my full A 7-Day Turkey Travel Guide: Explore & Taste the Best in Istanbul, Fethiye and Cappadocia

5. Skiing: Bansko, Bulgaria

I went skiing just before the world went into lockdown in 2020. I think if I remember rightly we actually arrived in Bulgaria on 29 Feb and I remember it being an interesting time to not just be travelling because of the uncertainty, but also because it was a great weekend. And to top it all offf it was also my first time ever going skiing, and I think it counts as an adrenaline activity in its own right if you’re a complete beginner like I was. As I didn’t book myself I won’t be sharing a tour exprience link but you can read my full My Amazing First Ski Weekend Trip in Bulgaria Bansko for what I did.

6. Hiking the volcano: Guatemala

Oh my gosh, hiking up a volcano solo to roast marshmallows at the top is not what I had on my bingo card at all. However, I am sooo glad that I did it. It was about 6 to 8 hours where I had to stop literally every 20 mins of walking because I could hear my own heartbeat in my chest LOL. There are like Peru on the Rainbow Mountain horses that will help you take you to the top (the locals call them taxi lol), but I was adamant to actually walk to the top, and I did.

It was quite an emotional victory for me, but for the purpose of this post I will say that, with all I went through, it’s certainly earned its place on this adrenaline activities list. You can also book the same volcano hike in Guatemala via Viator here. Read my full 6 Amazing Days Solo in Guatemala Itinerary: What to Do, Stay and Eat
